Tilta has officially introduced the new Illusion Magnetic Filter Ultimate Kit, a modular magnetic filter ecosystem designed for photographers and filmmakers. The system is built around quick magnetic attachment points that make stacking and swapping filters much faster in the field.

Tilta says the Illusion system is designed to simplify creative workflows while keeping the overall setup compact and lightweight.

A Modular Magnetic Filter System

The Illusion Magnetic Filter Ultimate Kit includes several of the most commonly used filters for photography and video work. The set comes with a standard CPL filter, a Variable ND adapter, a CPL with built-in 5-stop ND, and a CPL combined with a ¼ Black Mist filter.

Tilta also includes magnetic adapter rings for both 82mm and 77mm lenses. This allows the system to work with a wide variety of popular lens sizes without requiring additional threaded adapters.

Faster Filter Swaps in the Field

The biggest feature of the Illusion ecosystem is its magnetic mounting system. Instead of threading filters on and off, users can quickly snap filters into place.

This should make it much easier to adapt to changing lighting conditions while shooting outdoors or during fast-paced productions. Magnetic mounting also reduces the hassle of stacking multiple threaded filters together.

Compact Design With Fewer Components

Tilta says the system was specifically designed to minimize the number of separate filter layers and components. By combining effects like ND filtration and Black Mist diffusion with CPL filters, the overall filter stack stays thinner and more compact.

Reducing the number of stacked filters can also help minimize vignetting and unwanted color shifts, especially when shooting with ultra-wide lenses.

CPL, ND, and Black Mist Effects

The standard CPL filter is designed to reduce reflections and glare from surfaces like water and glass. It can also deepen blue skies and improve overall color saturation in landscapes.

The CPL with built-in 5-stop ND combines exposure control and polarization into a single filter. Meanwhile, the CPL with 1/4 Black Mist softens highlights and lowers contrast for a more cinematic look.

The included Variable ND adapter offers a range of 1 to 5 stops. When paired with the CPL + 5-stop ND filter, the system can extend to a total range of 6 to 10 stops. That added flexibility should make the setup useful for video shooters working in bright daylight while trying to maintain cinematic shutter speeds.

Built for Everyday Use

Tilta says the filters feature full-spectrum coatings to reduce reflections and maintain more neutral color reproduction. The filters also have oil- and water-resistant coatings for easier cleaning in outdoor environments.

The frames themselves are made from aluminum for improved durability. The kit also includes magnetic front and rear protective covers, a soft carrying case, and cleaning accessories.

Pricing and Availability

The Tilta Illusion Magnetic Filter Ultimate Kit is now available for pre-order for $251 as part of an introductory launch discount running through May 22, 2026.

After the promotion ends, the standard retail price will increase to $279. Individual filters are also available separately, with prices starting at $39. Shipping is expected to begin within two to four weeks.

Brightin Star is continuing its push into affordable optics with the release of the new MF 10mm F/5.6 II fisheye lens. Designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras, the compact ultra-wide lens arrives with a very budget-friendly $75 price tag.

The new lens follows the recent launch of the company’s 7.5mm F/2.8 fisheye and gives photographers another low-cost option for experimenting with ultra-wide perspectives.

Compact Ultra-Wide Perspective

The 10mm focal length delivers an approximately 15mm full-frame equivalent field of view. Brightin Star positions the lens as an accessible option for landscapes, architecture, travel, and casual everyday photography.

The company says the lens is designed to help creatives “push your perspective further than before.” Like many fisheye lenses, it emphasizes exaggerated perspectives and dramatic compositions.

The second-generation 10mm F/5.6 II introduces several exterior refinements compared to the original version. Brightin Star says the lens now features a redesigned aperture ring and updated distance markings.

The revised focus scale is intended to make manual operation and zone focusing easier. Since the lens uses a very wide focal length and a slower F/5.6 aperture, achieving focus should be relatively straightforward for most shooting situations.

Optical Design and Close Focusing

The optical construction uses 7 elements arranged in 5 groups. Brightin Star also included its IMC coating to help reduce flare and ghosting while improving clarity and color accuracy in backlit scenes.

The lens can focus as close as 0.2m, allowing photographers to create exaggerated foreground perspectives and dramatic close-up compositions.

Lightweight Everyday Lens

One of the biggest selling points of the 10mm F/5.6 II is its size. The Sony E-mount version measures only 32mm long and weighs just 132g.

That makes it easy to pair with compact APS-C mirrorless cameras for travel or everyday carry setups. The small footprint also makes it less intimidating for street photography or casual shooting.

Brightin Star also points out that fisheye distortion can easily be corrected in software like Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop. This effectively allows photographers to use the lens as both a fisheye and an ultra-wide rectilinear-style lens, depending on their editing workflow.

For many users, that flexibility adds even more value considering the very low entry price.

Pricing and Availability

The Brightin Star MF 10mm F/5.6 II fisheye lens is now available through the company’s online store and major retailers for $74.99. The lens is available on Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF-S, Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, and Micro Four Thirds mounts.

Brightin Star is also offering an introductory launch discount, lowering the price to just $65.99 for a limited time.

Capping off a packed week of photography announcements, DJI has officially launched the Osmo Pocket 4P during the Cannes Film Festival in France. The new premium pocket camera introduces a dual-camera system for the first time in the Osmo Pocket lineup.

The addition of a second camera is the headline feature of the Pocket 4P. DJI is clearly aiming to give creators more flexibility for framing, portraits, and cinematic storytelling while also competing directly with the upcoming Insta360 Luna Ultra.

DJI Pushes Pocket Cameras Further

“Built upon DJI’s legacy in professional cinematography, including its industry-defining DJI Ronin and DJI Inspire platforms, the Osmo Pocket 4P represents the convergence of high-end film technology and extreme portability,” DJI says.

The company adds that the Pocket 4P combines “professional cinema capabilities into a truly pocket-sized form factor,” emphasizing its 10-bit D-Log2 workflow and cinematic dynamic range.

Dual Cameras for More Creative Flexibility

The new dual-camera setup allows users to switch between wide-angle and telephoto perspectives without relying entirely on digital zoom. DJI says the telephoto system is designed to improve portrait shooting with “natural skin tones and cinematic depth.”

Based on information shared during the launch, the telephoto camera is expected to feature an equivalent focal length of around 60mm. That tighter framing should help create more flattering portraits and stronger background separation compared to the wider main camera.

Upgraded Color and Dynamic Range

One of the more important upgrades is the move to 10-bit D-Log2 recording. Unlike the standard Pocket 4, which uses regular D-Log, the Pocket 4P is designed with more advanced color grading workflows in mind.

D-Log2 is intended for demanding lighting environments and cinematic production. The profile preserves more highlight and shadow detail, giving filmmakers and creators additional flexibility during post-production.

The DJI Pocket 4P brings dual cameras and 10-bit D-Log2 recording to the pocket camera space.

Improved Low-Light Performance

DJI also says the Osmo Pocket 4P features an upgraded imaging system for improved low-light shooting. Promotional materials specifically highlight nighttime city scenes and indoor filming scenarios.

While DJI still has not released a complete spec sheet, rumors suggest the camera may support high frame rate recording and improved still image quality over previous Pocket models.

“Following the global success of its predecessor, the Osmo Pocket 4P builds on a growing movement in which compact cameras are reshaping how stories are created and shared,” DJI says.

The company also positions the Pocket 4P as part of a broader creator ecosystem alongside DJI’s audio, stabilization, and filmmaking accessories.

Pricing and Availability

DJI has not yet revealed official pricing or configuration details for the Osmo Pocket 4P. The company says more information will be announced at a later date.

Availability in the United States also remains uncertain. Recent DJI products have not officially launched in the US due to ongoing FCC approval issues.

After months of teasing, Thypoch has officially unveiled the Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8. The new lens marks the company’s first autofocus zoom lens and is launching for Sony E mount cameras.

Thypoch says the Voyager is built around the same cinematic rendering philosophy found in its popular Simera cinema-inspired lenses. The company describes it as a zoom lens designed to combine the flexibility of a standard zoom with the character of a fast prime.

A Compact Zoom With Cinematic Rendering

“Encased in an ultra-lightweight body, it covers the ‘golden focal lengths’ from immersive wide-angles to intimate portraits,” Thypoch says. “Offering the convenience of a zoom with the soul of a prime.”

The 24-50mm focal range covers wide-angle to standard perspectives, making it suitable for street photography, travel, portraits, landscapes, and everyday shooting. The constant F/2.8 aperture should also make it a capable option for low-light photography and video work.

Optical Design and Image Quality

The optical construction uses 16 elements arranged in 13 groups. Thypoch says the lens incorporates aspherical and high-refractive index elements along with nano-coatings to reduce flare and optical aberrations.

According to the company, the Voyager delivers “prime-like sharpness” throughout the zoom range. Thypoch also places heavy emphasis on the rendering characteristics of the lens rather than just technical sharpness.

The company says the bokeh “transcends simple digital blurring” with smoother and more painterly transitions between subject and background. At longer focal lengths, Thypoch claims the lens produces richer tonal separation and a more three-dimensional rendering style.

Autofocus and Internal Zoom

The Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8 features a fast and quiet autofocus system with support for subject tracking and Eye AF on compatible Sony cameras. The lens is also designed with video creators in mind.

One standout feature is the internal zoom mechanism. Since the lens does not physically extend while zooming, the balance remains consistent when mounted on a gimbal or video rig.

Lightweight and Travel Friendly

Despite the constant F/2.8 aperture, the Voyager remains relatively compact and lightweight. The lens weighs just 432g and measures 92.8mm long.

The lens also features dust and moisture resistance for improved reliability when shooting outdoors or while traveling in changing weather conditions.

Pricing and Availability

The Thypoch Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8 is now available for pre-order through the Thypoch website and major retailers for $649. Thypoch is also running an introductory launch promotion, dropping the price to $619 from May 14 through May 31, 2026.

The lens will begin shipping in June 2026.

Sony has officially announced the new Xperia 1 VIII, bringing a much stronger focus on photography and creator-focused tools inspired by the company’s Alpha mirrorless cameras. This is arguably the most camera-centric Xperia update Sony has released in years.

While the overall design remains familiar, the camera system and software experience have received major upgrades. The most noticeable exterior change is the redesigned rear camera module.

Redesigned Camera Module

Sony has moved away from the traditional vertical camera strip and replaced it with a square-shaped camera island. The new layout gives the smartphone a cleaner and more modern flagship appearance.

The redesigned module also houses upgraded camera hardware. Sony says the new layout better integrates the larger sensors and optics into the body.

Larger Telephoto Sensor

The Xperia 1 VIII now features a 48-megapixel Type 1/1.56 Exmor RS telephoto sensor. According to Sony, the sensor is nearly four times larger than the telephoto sensor used in the previous Xperia generation.

The larger sensor should improve low-light performance, dynamic range, and noise reduction. This also brings Sony closer to the larger telephoto sensor designs currently used by Chinese flagship smartphone makers.

Dual Telephoto Focal Lengths

The telephoto camera supports dual focal lengths equivalent to 70mm and 140mm. While the reach is slightly shorter than the previous 85mm and 170mm setup, Sony added autofocus macro capability to the system.

Sony positions the 70mm mode as ideal for portraits, while the 140mm focal length is aimed more toward sports and event photography.

Xperia Intelligence AI Assistant

Sony also introduced a new AI-powered shooting assistant called Xperia Intelligence. The assistant can recommend framing, exposure settings, lens selection, bokeh effects, and color looks based on the shooting scene and other variables.

Users can still manually fine-tune settings like exposure, saturation, contrast, and white balance. Sony also allows photographers to completely disable the AI assistant for a more traditional shooting experience.

Alpha Camera Features

Several familiar Alpha-series camera features are now built directly into the Xperia 1 VIII. These include Real-time Eye AF, Subject Tracking, RAW capture support, and manual exposure controls.

The smartphone can also shoot bursts at up to 30fps with autofocus and autoexposure tracking. Sony also included Creative Look presets and S-Cinetone color science for more cinematic-looking images and video.

4K120p Video and Macro Features

The Xperia 1 VIII supports 4K video recording at up to 120fps with HDR. Sony says the phone is designed to appeal to creators who want more advanced video tools directly on a smartphone.

The telephoto camera also supports macro photography with a minimum focusing distance of 15cm. Meanwhile, the ultra-wide camera can automatically engage for close-up macro shooting when needed.

Physical Camera Controls

One enthusiast-friendly feature Sony continues to include is the dedicated two-stage shutter button. Half-pressing activates autofocus lock while a full press captures the image.

This gives the Xperia 1 VIII a shooting experience that feels much closer to a traditional Alpha mirrorless camera. It remains one of the few flagship smartphones to still include this feature.

Features Other Smartphones Are Removing

Sony is also continuing to keep several hardware features that many flagship smartphones have abandoned. The Xperia 1 VIII still includes a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and front-facing stereo speakers.

The smartphone also features IP65/IP68 water and dust resistance. For photographers and videographers, the expandable storage should be especially useful for handling large photo and video files.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The Xperia 1 VIII is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Sony is offering the phone with up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 1TB of internal storage.

The higher storage capacity should appeal to users regularly shooting 4K video or RAW photos. Sony is also offering the premium storage model in an exclusive gold finish.

Pricing and Availability

The Sony Xperia 1 VIII is priced at £1,399 / €1,499 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. The higher-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model costs £1,849 / €1,999. Pre-orders are now open at the Sony online store.

Sony has also confirmed that the Xperia 1 VIII will not be released in North America.

Insta360 has officially unveiled the new Go 3S Retro Bundle, a retro-inspired take on its tiny action camera system. The new bundle adds vintage styling and an optical viewfinder for composing both stills and video.

The design immediately brings to mind the hugely popular Kodak Charmera toy camera. Unlike the Charmera, though, the new Go 3S Retro Bundle is capable of recording proper 4K video and capturing 12-megapixel still images.

Retro Action Pod With Optical Viewfinder

The biggest change in the Retro Bundle is the redesigned Action Pod. Insta360 gave it a retro-inspired body along with a built-in optical viewfinder positioned at the top of the unit.

The optical finder allows users to shoot from waist level similar to vintage film SLRs and TLR cameras. Insta360 also says the viewfinder doubles as a selfie mirror for easier self-recording.

To complete the retro experience, Insta360 added three retro filters and eleven color profiles to the system.

Users will need to use the Insta360 smartphone app to change shooting modes or adjust camera settings, as the Action Pod itself does not include a touchscreen or extensive physical controls.

Compact Design With External Battery Pack

Because of the compact size of the new Action Pod, there was not enough space to include a large internal battery. To compensate, Insta360 bundled the camera with a dedicated external battery pack.

The battery pack adds 393mAh capacity on top of the camera module’s built-in 310mAh battery. Together, the system can record up to 76 minutes of video, while the camera module alone can manage around 38 minutes.

Same Go 3S Camera Module

The camera module itself remains unchanged from the standard Go 3S. It still uses a 12-megapixel 1/2.3-inch image sensor capable of recording 4K video at up to 30fps and 1080p slow motion at up to 200fps.

Users can operate the camera with simple button presses on the module itself. A single press captures a photo, while a double press starts video recording.

Lightweight and Highly Portable

The Go 3S camera module weighs just 39.1g, while the Retro Viewfinder attachment weighs around 39g as well. The included battery pack weighs 33g, and the Retro Viewfinder measures 92mm long. Altogether, the setup remains extremely compact and portable.

The Retro Bundle includes the Go 3S camera module, Retro Viewfinder, NFC Custom Skin, battery pack, strap, magnetic pendant, USB-C to USB-A cable, and a pre-installed lens guard. The accessories are clearly aimed at users who want a more casual, lifestyle-focused shooting experience with a nostalgic feel.

Pricing and Availability

The Insta360 Go 3S Retro Bundle is now available for purchase from the Insta360 online store and major retailers for $281.99.

Sony has officially announced the FE 100-400mm F/4.5 GM OSS, a new professional telephoto zoom lens designed for sports, wildlife, and photojournalism photographers. This new lens should pair well with the newly announced Sony A7R VI, making it a great camera and lens combo for professional work.

The new lens serves as the spiritual successor to the FE 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 GM OSS. While the focal range remains unchanged, Sony upgraded the lens to a constant F/4.5 aperture throughout the entire zoom range.

Constant F/4.5 Aperture

One of the biggest upgrades over the previous generation is the constant F/4.5 maximum aperture.

At the 400mm end, the new lens is effectively two stops brighter than the older F/5.6 version. This should provide improved low-light performance and stronger subject separation when shooting wildlife or sports.

Advanced Optical Design

The FE 100-400mm F/4.5 GM OSS uses a complex optical design with 28 elements arranged in 20 groups. The lens features ED XA, XA, Super ED, and ED elements to help maintain high sharpness while minimizing chromatic aberrations and distortion across the zoom range.

The lens also uses Nano AR Coating II to suppress flare and ghosting, improving contrast and color performance in backlit scenes. Sony says the 11-bladed aperture diaphragm helps produce smoother and more circular bokeh, especially when shooting distant subjects.

Faster Autofocus Performance

Autofocus is powered by four Extreme Dynamic Linear Motors for faster and more responsive focusing performance. Sony says the lens supports continuous autofocus shooting at up to 120fps with compatible cameras like the Sony A9 III.

The lens also uses a floating focus design to maintain image quality throughout the focusing range.

Internal Zoom and Video Features

The FE 100-400mm features an internal zoom mechanism, meaning the lens does not physically extend while zooming. This helps maintain balance when using the lens on gimbals, monopods, or tripod setups. It also contributes to faster and more stable autofocus performance.

Sony says the lens is optimized for video as well, with minimal focus breathing and support for Breathing Compensation on compatible Alpha cameras.

Close Focusing and Stabilization

Despite the long focal range, the lens can focus as close as 0.64m and offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.

The lens also includes Optical SteadyShot image stabilization with multiple stabilization modes. These include standard stabilization, panning mode, and a dedicated moving-subject mode for sports and wildlife shooting.

Rugged Professional Build

The new FE 100-400mm F/4.5 GM OSS is noticeably larger than its predecessor, weighing 1840g and measuring 328mm long. The lens uses a mix of metal and engineered plastic components while maintaining a dust and moisture-resistant design for outdoor shooting.

The lens also includes several physical controls, including an aperture ring, customizable function ring, focus mode switch, four focus hold buttons, and a removable tripod collar.

Sony confirmed that the lens is compatible with both the FE 1.4x and FE 2.0x teleconverters. This gives photographers even more reach for wildlife and field sports photography without sacrificing autofocus functionality.

Pricing and Availability

The Sony FE 100-400mm F/4.5 GM OSS is now available for pre-order for $4,298Shipping is expected to begin in June 2026.

Sony has officially unveiled the A7R VI, its newest flagship high-resolution mirrorless camera. The launch comes shortly after Canon announced the EOS R6V and RF 20-50mm F/4 L PZ, making it a very busy day for camera gear announcements.

The new A7R VI is now Sony’s highest resolution full-frame camera, capable of capturing massive 66.8-megapixel still images. But beyond the jump in resolution, Sony is also bringing significant speed upgrades thanks to a brand-new fully stacked sensor.

New 66.8MP Fully Stacked Sensor

At the heart of the camera is a newly developed 66.8-megapixel Exmor RS full-frame sensor. This marks Sony’s first major sensor update to the A7R lineup since the A7R IV launched back in 2019.

The fully stacked sensor design dramatically improves readout speed compared to the backside-illuminated sensor used in the A7R V. Sony paired the new sensor with the updated BIONZ XR2 processor for even faster performance.

The A7R VI can shoot full-resolution 14-bit RAW images at up to 30 frames per second. Despite the massive resolution, Sony says rolling shutter performance is improved by up to 5.6 times compared to the A7R V.

Sony also added a Pre-Capture mode that can buffer images between 0.03 and 1 second before the shutter is fully pressed. This should help photographers capture unpredictable moments more reliably.

Improved Dynamic Range and ISO Performance

Sony says the imaging performance of the A7R VI has improved noticeably over the previous generation.

The camera features a native ISO range of 100-32000 and can be expanded from ISO 50 to 102400. Dynamic range has also increased to 16 stops, up from 15 stops on the A7R V.

Upgraded Autofocus System

The autofocus system has also received a significant upgrade. The A7R VI now features a 759-point Real-time Recognition AF+ system with improved subject tracking and responsiveness.

Sony’s AI-powered subject detection can recognize humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes. The camera also includes an automatic subject recognition mode for easier switching between subject types.

Better Image Stabilization

Sony has improved the in-body image stabilization system to deliver up to 8.5 stops of compensation at the center and 7 stops at the edges of the frame.

The 5-axis stabilization system uses a high-performance gyro sensor and optimized algorithms for more precise shake reduction during handheld shooting.

The sensor-shift stabilization system also enables advanced composite shooting modes.

Pixel Shift Multi Shooting can combine either 4 or 16 images into a single 265.8-megapixel composite file. Sony also added Multi-Image HDR and Noise Reduction modes that can merge multiple RAW files for improved dynamic range and lower visible noise.

8K Video and Oversampled 4K

Video capabilities have also been expanded significantly. The A7R VI can record 8K30p using 8.2K oversampling and 4K120p using 5K oversampling with full pixel readout.

When shooting in Super 35 mode, the camera can record oversampled 4K60p from 6.3K capture or 4K120p from 4.6K oversampling.

Sony also introduced a new Dual Gain video mode designed to minimize noise while preserving shadow detail. The feature is limited to 4K30p recording and ISO 400, with S-Log3 ISO support between 200 and 3200.

Expanded Audio Features

The Multi Interface Shoe now supports advanced digital audio workflows.

With compatible microphones, users can record 4-channel 24-bit audio directly in camera. When paired with the optional XLR-A4 adapter, the A7R VI can record 32-bit float 4-channel audio at 96kHz alongside video footage.

Sony also added a built-in noise reference microphone to improve background noise reduction during recording.

New EVF and Multi-Angle Display

The A7R VI features a 9.44-million-dot electronic viewfinder that Sony says is three times brighter than the previous generation.

The camera also introduces a new 3.2-inch 2.1-million-dot 4-axis multi-angle LCD. The design combines the flexibility of a vari-angle display with the convenience of a tilting screen.

Connectivity and Build Quality

Sony equipped the A7R VI with a full-sized HDMI Type-A port, dual USB-C ports, PC sync terminal, and both headphone and microphone jacks.

The camera also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth connectivity for faster wireless transfer and tethered workflows.

The body uses a magnesium alloy chassis with improved grip ergonomics and a reinforced lens mount for handling larger lenses. Sony also says the camera features extensive weather sealing to protect against dust and moisture.

Canon has officially announced the RF 20-50mm F/4 L IS USM PZ, a new full-frame power zoom lens designed specifically for video creators and hybrid shooters.

The lens arrives alongside the newly announced EOS R6V and is clearly built to complement Canon’s growing video-focused ecosystem. With its wide-to-standard zoom range and built-in power zoom system, it is aimed squarely at filmmakers, vloggers, and content creators.

Built for Hybrid and Video Work

The RF 20-50mm F/4 covers a full-frame image circle and offers a versatile focal range that works well for vlogging, interviews, documentaries, and everyday content creation.

Canon says the lens is optimized for video use while still delivering the optical quality expected from an L-series lens. Users can choose between powered zoom control and traditional manual zoom operation depending on their shooting style.

Optical Design and Image Quality

The lens uses an optical design with 13 elements arranged in 11 groups. This includes three aspherical elements and three UD elements to help reduce distortion, chromatic aberrations, and maintain sharpness across the zoom range.

Canon also says the lens exhibits minimal focus breathing, which is important for maintaining a more cinematic look during focus transitions in video work.

The front element features a fluorine coating to help repel dust, oil, and moisture, making the lens easier to clean during outdoor shoots.

Nano USM Autofocus and Internal Zoom

Autofocus is powered by Canon’s Nano USM system, which promises fast, accurate, and nearly silent focusing performance.

The lens also uses an internal zoom mechanism, meaning the physical length of the lens does not change while zooming. This helps maintain balance when mounted on gimbals, rigs, or handheld stabilizers.

Power Zoom System and Remote Control

One of the standout features of the lens is its built-in power zoom system powered by dual Nano USM motors.

Users can customize zoom speeds for smoother and more controlled transitions during filming. Cameras like the EOS R6V and EOS R50V also feature rocker switches that allow users to control the zoom directly from the camera body.

Canon is also releasing the BR-E2 Bluetooth remote accessory, which enables remote zoom control. This should be especially useful for solo creators, livestreaming setups, and small production teams.

Stabilization and Compact Design

The RF 20-50mm F/4 L IS USM PZ includes up to six stops of optical image stabilization for smoother handheld footage and sharper still images.

Despite its feature set, the lens remains relatively compact and lightweight at just 420g and measuring 99mm long. Canon also included dust and moisture resistance, making it a durable option for outdoor and travel production work.

The lens features several physical controls including a control ring, AF/MF switch, stabilizer switch, PZ/MZ selector, and a customizable function button.

Pricing and Availability

The Canon RF 20-50mm F/4 L IS USM PZ is now available for pre-order for $1,399. Shipping is expected to begin on July 24, 2026.

The Canon BR-E2 Bluetooth remote is priced at $69, while the new HG-200TBR Tripod Grip costs $159.

Canon has officially unveiled the EOS R6V, a new full-frame hybrid camera aimed squarely at content creators and filmmakers. Based on the EOS R6 Mark III platform, the new camera adds several video-focused upgrades including 7K open gate recording, active cooling, and a redesigned cinema-inspired body.

The EOS R6V is the first camera in Canon’s V series lineup to feature a full-frame sensor. It joins the growing V series family alongside the EOS R50V, PowerShot V1, and PowerShot V10, all of which are designed with creators and video production in mind.

7K Open Gate Video and RAW Recording

At the core of the R6V is a 32.5-megapixel CMOS sensor similar to the one used in the EOS R6 Mark III. However, Canon has expanded the camera’s video capabilities significantly to better suit filmmakers and hybrid shooters.

The camera can shoot 7K Canon RAW in a 3:2 open gate format at 6960 x 4640 resolution. It can also record oversampled 4K footage derived from the full 7K sensor readout for improved sharpness and detail.

Users have access to 7K30p RAW in open gate or 7K60p RAW Light in a 16:9 aspect ratio. When shooting MP4 in open gate, the resolution changes slightly to 6912 x 4608.

The EOS R6V also supports uncropped 4K120p and 2K180p recording for slow-motion video capture. Canon has also included Canon Log 2 support, allowing users to capture up to 15 stops of dynamic range for greater flexibility during color grading.

Cinema-Inspired Body Design

One of the biggest design changes is the body itself. The R6V has a boxier cinema-style design and completely removes the electronic viewfinder, making it more similar to cameras like the Sony FX3 and Nikon ZR.

Framing and monitoring are handled through the fully articulated 3-inch 1.62-million-dot touchscreen display. Canon has also removed the mechanical shutter, reinforcing the camera’s video-first design philosophy.

Even though the camera is heavily focused on video, it still performs well for photography. The R6V can capture 32.5-megapixel stills at up to 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter.

Active Cooling and Image Stabilization

Another major addition is the built-in active cooling system. The cooling fan allows the camera to sustain longer recording sessions at high resolutions and frame rates without overheating.

The camera also features up to 7.5 stops of in-body image stabilization. This helps improve handheld shooting performance for both stills and video, especially in low light situations.

Built for Content Creators

Canon has clearly designed the R6V around content creation workflows. The camera includes vertical and horizontal tripod sockets, 12 customizable buttons, and a zoom rocker surrounding the record button for controlling compatible power zoom lenses.

A multifunction shoe on top supports digital audio accessories and future compatibility with external flashes via firmware updates. These additions make the R6V more flexible for vloggers, livestreamers, and filmmakers.

Compact but Rugged

Despite the cinema-focused design, the R6V remains relatively compact and lightweight. The camera measures 141.8 x 83.3 x 79.7mm and weighs 688g including the battery and memory card.

Canon also says the body features dust and moisture resistance for use in more challenging shooting environments. This should make it a solid option for travel, documentary, and outdoor production work.

Pricing and Availability

The Canon EOS R6V is now available for pre-order for $2,499. Shipping is expected to begin on June 24, 2026.

Canon is also offering a bundle with the newly announced RF 20-50mm F/4 L IS USM PZ lens for $3,699.
