P2 Photoblog Week of April 26th

sandiegocorporatephotographer100.jpgThis weekend we photographed a Trash the Dress session (do we need to explain this?) with Roy and Chula. First it was bicycling on the beach, then wading in the ocean, topped off with an hour swimming in a VERY COLD pool.

P2 Photoblog Week of April 22nd

sandiegocorporatephotographer991.jpgThe American Association of Endodontists hosts an event called Access to Care, wherein folks who can’t afford root canals can get them done at no cost. Imagine the advertising for this. Hey! Free root canal! P2 was hired to photograph the patients getting the actual work done (not shown, thank God) and then the satisfied patients with their endodontists. We thought no one would want their portrait taken directly following 2-3 hours in a dentist’s chair, but everyone was so happy to be finished that they didn’t mind the portrait session at all. These images will be used on AAE’s website and in their print materials.

P2 Photoblog Week of April 14th

sandiegocorporatephotographer98.jpgThis past weekend P2 stepped outside their typical commercial role and shot a local wedding. A very local wedding in fact, as the happy couple have been our next door neighbors for 2 years. The top shot is of the groom, taken in the mirror of an antique glass hutch. It is shot with a 580ex II flash on camera, simply spun sideways to point at the groom while the camera is pointed into the hutch. (Shouldn’t there be fowl living in anything called a hutch?). The lower photo used the same flash for fill on the kids faces. The children are the niece and nephew of the bride and groom, and belong to the man in the background.

P2 Photoblog Week of April 7th

sandiegocorporatephotographer97.jpgP2 has wings! As some of you know, P2 has been working on providing our clients with aerial photography via remote control helicopter. This idea began sometime before Christmas, and has taken Jon months of dedicated practice on both a computer flight simulator and a medium sized “starter” RC Helicopter. These things aren’t easy to fly! This image marks our first photograph taken from the sky. It was shot with a small point and shoot Pentax Optio W60 attached to an Eflight Blade 400 helicopter. Jon is operating the helicopter from the ground down left of the frame. It took him a week to build this helicopter from a kit of over 150 parts (and then he turned right around and built a second one). In a few months we will acquire a larger helicopter powerful enough to lift a good quality SLR camera. After that, the sky isn’t the limit anymore. Stay tuned.
