The new wireless microphone builds on the original Mic Mini from 2024, keeping the same compact design while introducing a more customizable look.
A More Colorful Take on a Familiar Design
At a glance, the Mic Mini 2 looks similar to its predecessor, but DJI is clearly leaning into customization this time. The transmitter now supports interchangeable magnetic front covers in multiple colors, with Obsidian Black and Glaze White included in the box.
Additional color options are sold separately, along with a special “Time Series” collection designed in collaboration with illustrator Victo Ngai. The themed covers—Dawn, Surge, Blaze, and Glimmer—add a more artistic option for users who want something less understated.
Compact Form Factor Stays the Same
The Mic Mini 2 keeps the same ultra-compact footprint, weighing just 11 grams and measuring roughly 28.6 x 28.0 x 13.5mm. It attaches using a rotatable magnetic clip, allowing for flexible positioning while keeping the setup discreet.
The clip design, similar to what DJI introduced with the Mic 3, makes it easier to mount the transmitter without leaving visible hardware in the frame. It’s a small detail, but one that content creators will likely appreciate.
Core Audio Features
Despite its size, the Mic Mini 2 offers a fairly complete feature set for everyday recording. It uses an omnidirectional pickup pattern with a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz and supports up to 120dB SPL.
Audio is recorded at 48kHz, 24-bit, with adjustable gain and dual-track recording available through the DJI Mimo app. There are also three voice tone presets, two levels of noise cancellation, and automatic limiting for more consistent audio.
The Mic Mini 2 skips some of the more advanced features found in DJI’s higher-end systems. It does not support 32-bit float recording or onboard internal recording.
For most casual users, that likely won’t be a dealbreaker, but it does reinforce the product’s position as an entry-level or mid-tier option. Those needing more advanced audio control may still need to look at DJI’s premium lineup.
Expanded Receiver Options
One of the more notable updates is the addition of a second receiver option. The system now supports more flexible configurations, including compatibility between Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters.
DJI has also introduced a dedicated mobile receiver with a USB-C connection for smartphones. It supports two transmitters at distances of up to 300 meters and records at 48kHz, 24-bit.
Battery Life and Charging
Battery performance remains strong for a device this small. The transmitter is rated for up to 11.5 hours of use with noise cancellation disabled, while the receiver can run for about 10.5 hours.
Charging is relatively quick, with the transmitter taking about 70 minutes and the receiver around 100 minutes for a full charge. A short five-minute top-up can provide roughly an hour of recording time.
DJI is offering two charging case options depending on the setup. The larger case holds two transmitters, one receiver, and accessories, while a smaller version is designed for mobile users.
Both cases use Bluetooth 5.3 and automatically put transmitters into sleep mode when disconnected. This helps conserve battery and keeps the system ready for quick use.
A Higher-End Version Is Coming
DJI has also confirmed a Mic Mini 2S, expected later this year. It’s aimed at more advanced users and is rumored to include up to four transmitters and internal recording.
That would address some of the limitations of the standard Mic Mini 2. For now, though, DJI hasn’t shared full details about the upcoming model.
Pricing and Availability
The DJI Mic Mini 2 is available now through DJI’s online store and authorized retailers in multiple configurations. Pricing starts at €54 for a single transmitter with a mobile receiver, while the two-transmitter kit is priced at €89.
Accessories, including windscreens and magnetic covers, are sold separately. DJI says the Mic Mini 2 will not be available in the United States at launch due to pending FCC authorization, with no confirmed timeline yet.
