Tilta has officially introduced the new Illusion Magnetic Filter Ultimate Kit, a modular magnetic filter ecosystem designed for photographers and filmmakers. The system is built around quick magnetic attachment points that make stacking and swapping filters much faster in the field.

Tilta says the Illusion system is designed to simplify creative workflows while keeping the overall setup compact and lightweight.

A Modular Magnetic Filter System

The Illusion Magnetic Filter Ultimate Kit includes several of the most commonly used filters for photography and video work. The set comes with a standard CPL filter, a Variable ND adapter, a CPL with built-in 5-stop ND, and a CPL combined with a ¼ Black Mist filter.

Tilta also includes magnetic adapter rings for both 82mm and 77mm lenses. This allows the system to work with a wide variety of popular lens sizes without requiring additional threaded adapters.

Faster Filter Swaps in the Field

The biggest feature of the Illusion ecosystem is its magnetic mounting system. Instead of threading filters on and off, users can quickly snap filters into place.

This should make it much easier to adapt to changing lighting conditions while shooting outdoors or during fast-paced productions. Magnetic mounting also reduces the hassle of stacking multiple threaded filters together.

Compact Design With Fewer Components

Tilta says the system was specifically designed to minimize the number of separate filter layers and components. By combining effects like ND filtration and Black Mist diffusion with CPL filters, the overall filter stack stays thinner and more compact.

Reducing the number of stacked filters can also help minimize vignetting and unwanted color shifts, especially when shooting with ultra-wide lenses.

CPL, ND, and Black Mist Effects

The standard CPL filter is designed to reduce reflections and glare from surfaces like water and glass. It can also deepen blue skies and improve overall color saturation in landscapes.

The CPL with built-in 5-stop ND combines exposure control and polarization into a single filter. Meanwhile, the CPL with 1/4 Black Mist softens highlights and lowers contrast for a more cinematic look.

The included Variable ND adapter offers a range of 1 to 5 stops. When paired with the CPL + 5-stop ND filter, the system can extend to a total range of 6 to 10 stops. That added flexibility should make the setup useful for video shooters working in bright daylight while trying to maintain cinematic shutter speeds.

Built for Everyday Use

Tilta says the filters feature full-spectrum coatings to reduce reflections and maintain more neutral color reproduction. The filters also have oil- and water-resistant coatings for easier cleaning in outdoor environments.

The frames themselves are made from aluminum for improved durability. The kit also includes magnetic front and rear protective covers, a soft carrying case, and cleaning accessories.

Pricing and Availability

The Tilta Illusion Magnetic Filter Ultimate Kit is now available for pre-order for $251 as part of an introductory launch discount running through May 22, 2026.

After the promotion ends, the standard retail price will increase to $279. Individual filters are also available separately, with prices starting at $39. Shipping is expected to begin within two to four weeks.
