After months of teasing, Thypoch has officially unveiled the Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8. The new lens marks the company’s first autofocus zoom lens and is launching for Sony E mount cameras.

Thypoch says the Voyager is built around the same cinematic rendering philosophy found in its popular Simera cinema-inspired lenses. The company describes it as a zoom lens designed to combine the flexibility of a standard zoom with the character of a fast prime.

A Compact Zoom With Cinematic Rendering

“Encased in an ultra-lightweight body, it covers the ‘golden focal lengths’ from immersive wide-angles to intimate portraits,” Thypoch says. “Offering the convenience of a zoom with the soul of a prime.”

The 24-50mm focal range covers wide-angle to standard perspectives, making it suitable for street photography, travel, portraits, landscapes, and everyday shooting. The constant F/2.8 aperture should also make it a capable option for low-light photography and video work.

Optical Design and Image Quality

The optical construction uses 16 elements arranged in 13 groups. Thypoch says the lens incorporates aspherical and high-refractive index elements along with nano-coatings to reduce flare and optical aberrations.

According to the company, the Voyager delivers “prime-like sharpness” throughout the zoom range. Thypoch also places heavy emphasis on the rendering characteristics of the lens rather than just technical sharpness.

The company says the bokeh “transcends simple digital blurring” with smoother and more painterly transitions between subject and background. At longer focal lengths, Thypoch claims the lens produces richer tonal separation and a more three-dimensional rendering style.

Autofocus and Internal Zoom

The Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8 features a fast and quiet autofocus system with support for subject tracking and Eye AF on compatible Sony cameras. The lens is also designed with video creators in mind.

One standout feature is the internal zoom mechanism. Since the lens does not physically extend while zooming, the balance remains consistent when mounted on a gimbal or video rig.

Lightweight and Travel Friendly

Despite the constant F/2.8 aperture, the Voyager remains relatively compact and lightweight. The lens weighs just 432g and measures 92.8mm long.

The lens also features dust and moisture resistance for improved reliability when shooting outdoors or while traveling in changing weather conditions.

Pricing and Availability

The Thypoch Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8 is now available for pre-order through the Thypoch website and major retailers for $649. Thypoch is also running an introductory launch promotion, dropping the price to $619 from May 14 through May 31, 2026.

The lens will begin shipping in June 2026.
