GoPro has released a second teaser showcasing its upcoming GP3 processor, offering a closer look at what its next generation of cameras might deliver.

The company hasn’t confirmed which products will feature the new chip, but it says the GP3 is designed for a wide range of devices, including action cameras, 360 cameras, vlogging cameras, and even “ultra-premium compact cinema-grade cameras.”

A New 5nm Chip With AI-Focused Improvements

According to GoPro, the GP3 is built on a 5-nanometer architecture and is expected to deliver up to twice the pixel processing performance of its predecessor. The company also highlights improvements in AI-driven image processing, particularly in low-light conditions.

GoPro says the new chip is designed to push image quality, resolution, and frame rates forward in small-form-factor cameras, while also improving efficiency and battery life.

New Footage Highlights Versatility

The latest teaser follows an earlier release in March and includes short clips shot in a variety of conditions, including off-road driving, low-light scenes, and underwater footage.

While the footage offers a glimpse of what the GP3 may be capable of, GoPro has not shared detailed technical information such as sensor size, ISO performance, or lens specifications, making it difficult to fully assess the improvements at this stage.

Aiming to Regain Ground

GoPro describes the GP3 as a major step forward, saying it is “expected to significantly outperform the competition” and deliver industry-leading runtimes.

The company also suggests the new processor could play a role in expanding its product lineup, including a move into higher-end, cinema-focused compact cameras—an area currently dominated by models like Sony’s RX100 series and Canon’s PowerShot G lineup.

This comes at a time when GoPro faces increased competition from brands like DJI and Insta360 in both action and 360 camera markets.

What to Expect Next

GoPro says products featuring the GP3 chip are expected to launch in the second quarter of the year, suggesting an official reveal may not be far off.

For now, the teasers point to a renewed focus on performance and image quality, though the full picture will likely depend on how the new processor is paired with sensors and optics in upcoming cameras.

“We’re excited for GP3 to empower GoPro as both an innovator and disrupter,” said GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman.

The company will be showcasing its new product lineup at the NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 19-22, 2026.
