Canon EOS R6V Rumored as Video-Focused Hybrid Camera
Canon is reportedly preparing to launch a new video-oriented hybrid camera, with early reports pointing to a model called the EOS R6V. According to Canon Rumors, the camera could be announced within weeks and positioned to compete with models like the Nikon ZR.
A report from Photo Rumors suggests the R6V is based on the EOS R6 Mark III platform but tuned more heavily for video use.
A Shift Toward Video-Centric Design
One of the more notable rumored changes is the removal of the electronic viewfinder. That design choice is common among cinema-focused cameras like Sony’s FX3 series and suggests Canon is targeting video shooters first.
Leaked images also show a more video-oriented layout, including a prominent red record button and a dedicated photo/video switch on the top plate.
Rumored Specs and Capabilities
According to the report, the EOS R6V will feature a 32.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor with a native ISO range of 100 to 64,000, expandable to 50–102,400. The sensor is said to support 7K60p RAW recording as well as 7K30p in open-gate mode.
Autofocus is expected to use a 1,053-point system, likely based on Canon’s Dual Pixel AF, with 100% full-frame coverage similar to the R6 Mark III.
The camera is also rumored to include an active cooling system, which would allow for longer recording times at higher resolutions. That’s a key feature for video-focused cameras, especially when shooting 7K or RAW footage.
On the back, the R6V is said to feature a 3-inch, 1.6-million-dot display for monitoring and control.

Size and Handling
Leaked specifications suggest the camera will measure approximately 14.17 × 8.33 × 7.98 cm and weigh around 598 grams with the battery. That makes it slightly lighter than the R6 Mark III, likely due to the removal of the EVF.
The overall design appears to prioritize compactness while still accommodating video-focused features like cooling and dedicated controls.
Pricing and Expected Launch
The EOS R6V is rumored to be priced at €2,549, which translates to roughly $2,993 based on current exchange rates. Reports suggest the camera could be announced around May 13, 2026.
It may also debut alongside a new RF 20-50mm f/4L ISM PZ lens and a BR-E2 remote accessory.
As with all early reports, these details remain unconfirmed. But if accurate, the EOS R6V could mark a more dedicated push by Canon into compact, video-first hybrid cameras.
