The compact vlogging camera space is about to get more crowded, as Insta360 has teased a new pocket-sized camera called the Luna. The upcoming device is expected to go head-to-head with the DJI Osmo Pocket series and its rumored Pocket 4, which is also expected to arrive this year.

Insta360 CEO Liu Jingkang officially announced the Luna during the company’s annual meeting, confirming that the new camera is slated for release in the first half of 2026.

The move marks Insta360’s push into a segment long dominated by DJI, following DJI’s own expansion into Insta360’s territory with the Osmo 360 in the 360-degree action camera market.

What We Know About the Insta360 Luna

The Insta360 Luna features a dual front lens design that has already drawn comparisons to WALL·E thanks to its distinctive, eye-like layout. Interestingly, rumors suggest that the upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 4 “Pro” could also adopt a dual-lens approach. However, Insta360 has made it clear that the Luna is not meant to be just another pocket camera.

So far, Insta360 has not revealed which sensor will be used in the Luna. That said, the company already has experience with high-end imaging hardware in products like the X5 and Ace Pro 2, the latter featuring a large 1/1.3-inch sensor paired with a Leica lens and support for 8K video recording. This suggests the Luna could aim for strong image quality in a compact form factor.

Insta360 also brings gimbal expertise to the table through its Flow series of smartphone gimbals. If the company can match the stabilization performance of DJI’s Osmo Pocket line, the Luna could become a serious contender in the pocket gimbal camera niche.

Leaks further suggest that the Luna may feature a modular design, potentially allowing users to swap or add components. While nothing is confirmed yet, this could open the door to interchangeable lenses, audio accessories, or extended battery modules, giving creators more flexibility in how they build out their kits.

Insta360 already has a growing accessory ecosystem, including the recently released Mic Air, along with various mounts, selfie sticks, and grips. It’s reasonable to expect the Luna to integrate tightly with these accessories as well as the company’s mobile apps for editing and sharing videos.

Pricing and Availability

According to DroneXL, the Insta360 Luna is expected to be priced somewhere between $499 and $699, depending on the launch bundles. The release window is currently set for the first half of 2026.
