Brightin Star has officially introduced the new 7.5mm F/2.8 IV fisheye lens for crop sensor cameras. The compact ultrawide prime is designed for photographers and creators who want the dramatic fisheye look without spending a fortune.

The lens is launching for Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, Canon EF-M, and Micro Four Thirds mounts, with pricing starting at just $140.

A Tiny Lens With a Huge Field of View

The Brightin Star 7.5mm F/2.8 IV delivers a massive 190-degree field of view, making it ideal for landscapes, architecture, travel, urban photography, and even astrophotography.

Like most fisheye lenses, it creates strong distortion and exaggerated perspectives. Brightin Star also points out that photographers can use correction profiles in editing software to convert fisheye shots into more traditional ultra-wide images.

The lens features a bright F/2.8 maximum aperture, which should help when shooting indoors or at night. It also makes it easier to keep ISO levels lower for cleaner images.

The combination of the ultra-wide focal length and bright aperture should also make it appealing for astrophotography and creative close-up shots.

Optical Design and Starburst Effects

Inside, the lens uses an 11-element, 8-group optical design with three ED elements and three high refractive elements. According to Brightin Star, the setup helps reduce chromatic aberrations, flare, and unwanted distortion artifacts.

The lens also uses a five-bladed aperture diaphragm, which creates distinct 10-point starbursts when shooting bright light sources.

Rear Filters and Manual Focus

Because of the bulbous front element, traditional front-mounted filters aren’t supported. Instead, the lens uses rear-mounted screw-in filters for ND and creative filter options.

The lens is manual focus only, which helps keep the price low and also allows Brightin Star to offer it on more mounts, including Canon RF. Focusing should also be fairly straightforward thanks to the naturally deep depth of field of such an ultra-wide lens. The minimum focusing distance is just 0.15m, allowing for dramatic close-up perspectives.

Brightin Star says the lens weighs just 274g and measures around 53mm long, making it easy to carry around for travel or everyday shooting.

The lens comes in both black and silver finishes and is available for Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, Canon EF-M, and Micro Four Thirds cameras.
